Woodlawn Welcomes Mr. Fred Stewart, Principal

A Birmingham native, Fred H. Stewart, III, has 14 years of service in the educational industry.  He has served as a teacher, a coach and an administrator. Mr. Stewart works diligently to help teachers strengthen their teaching practices in order to improve student achievement. He is determined to ensure that all students receive the opportunity for academic success.

Mr. Stewart was educated in the Birmingham City School System. After matriculating in the Birmingham City School System, he attended Talladega College, graduating in 1991 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Management.  Mr. Stewart later attended Alabama State University where he received additional educational training.  In 1997, he received a Masters of Education in Social Science. In 2002, he received an Administration certificate, and in 2005, an Education Specialist Degree in Administration. 

Mr. Stewart began his teaching career in the Birmingham City School System in 1997. He continues to develop himself professionally through a number of programs and training, such as the United States Army Reserve, where he currently serves as a Captain.

The lights of Mr. Stewart's life are his children, Fred IV and Jalia. In addition to his education career, he enjoys coaching baseball for the Alabama Wizzards, a traveling team which he founded. Mr. Stewart is a member of The Worship Center Christian Church and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. He is also an avid leader in his community.
