April M. Williams is a servant of God who long ago learned that her gift was "service." She gets the greatest gratification from serving others. She lives out her gift in service to the citizens of Birmingham through advocacy for students and Birmingham City School System. She is manager, diversity development, for the United States Postal Service and a member of the Birmingham Board of Education, where she is the president and representative for District 8.

Mrs. Williams is a native of Birmingham, Alabama, and product of the Birmingham City Schools. She matriculated through Jefferson State Junior College, Lawson State Community College and the University of Alabama with a concentration in finance and business management. She is a 2006 graduate of Leadership Birmingham, 2008 graduate of the Managerial Leadership Program and a certified global career development facilitator.

She is affiliated with numerous civic and professional organizations: past president of the Birmingham Federal Executive Association; former chair of Community Development for the Birmingham Regional Chamber of Commerce Executive Board; secretary, South Regions Minority Business Council; secretary, Bush Circle Block Watch; member of Alabama Democratic Executive Committee, National Association of Professional Women, African American Postal Leaders United for Success, National Association of Postal Supervisors, Classic Moments in Black History Advisory Board, UAB Urban Education Project Advisory Board and Leader to Leader for the Alabama Association of School Boards.
 
Mrs. Williams has received numerous awards and commendations. A few of her most recent accomplishments are: Inducted into Birmingham's Hall of Fame for "Women of Distinction" presented by Alpha Eta Chapter of Iota Phi Lambda Sorority, Inc., recipient of Arnold G. Diethelm "Celebration of Life Inspiration Award" by Alabama Coalition for Organ and Tissue Donation, "Citizen of the Year" presented by Alpha Phi Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, "Ladies Choice Award" presented by Birmingham Metropolitan Chapter of Top Ladies of Distinction, Inc. and the U.S. Postal Service Diversity Individual Exceptional Performance Award.
 
She was featured in the May 2007 edition of Business Alabama and as a special personality in the inaugural 2006 edition of Who's Who in Black Birmingham. Recently she received the South Regions Minority Business Council "Spirit Award" in recognition of displaying the true Spirit of Supplier Diversity. Mrs. Williams enjoys public relation activities and has served on numerous special event teams. In her spare time she enjoys reading, gardening, traveling and planning events.
 
She is married to Nathanial and the mother of four children. They are faithful members of Sardis Missionary Baptist Church, where she is a deaconess and member of the usher board. Mrs. Williams' greatest achievement is being a wife, mother and child of God.
